Pit firing is a primitive and highly unpredictable process: the pieces are buried in a bed of fire, wrapped in leaves, sawdust, minerals and many different kinds of organic matters. The flames leave their imprint. Flashes, shadows, smoke and oxides stains that cannot be planned or repeated. Each piece is a small act of surrender to the elements.
All miniatures were surrounded by only one component, to explore and catalogue the different effect.
